Vice President of Logistics
About the Job
Company is a large third party logistics provider in the Eastern US.
VP of Logistics will assume an expert role and accountability for traffic which includes customer shipments in North America as well as all inter-company shipments. More specifically, you - along with your Logistics team - will be responsible for coordinating the following:
* Manage an internal fleet
* Negotiate and manage all carrier agreements and performance
* Oversee a multi-year and multi-business unit warehousing operation with an eye on improvement of internal controls
* Assess and improve the current organizational structure, skills and capabilities
* Identify and institute best practices as applicable to all areas of Logistics
* Assume responsibility for improving service levels with a focus on continually reducing operating cost
The high-energy executive we are seeking will have approximately 10 to 15 years of pertinent industry experience and possess the ability to motivate and mobilize employees at all levels to challenge conventional thinking in order to drive projects that result in measurable improvement in the desired metrics. Superior people skills with a history of developing talent for progression within the organization and a proven record of steady progression in logistics and supply chain management within a manufacturing environment are also required.
MUST HAVE:
* 5 years at the Director or Vice President level in a high volume, multi-site, distribution, Logistics, or 3PL operation
* BS degree MINIMUM
* MBA preferred
* Knowledge of computer based systems in the Logistics area
* Successful management of a trucking and/or warehousing operation
* Initiative demonstrated by the an aggressive approach to identify, pursue, and collect cost reductions and improved services from suppliers.
* Financial savvy involving the understanding and effective management of key financial issues that impact the business.
