Job Description
This position provides strategic leadership in the Technical Services area for the Ralcorp Snacks, Sauces & Spreads business unit. This role is to develop strategic plans and ensure execution in both Research & Development (R&D) and Quality Assurance (QA). Creating a partnership with Sales to ensure we are meeting internal as well as customer and consumer expectations is critical.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Partners with Marketing, Sales and Operations to ensure R&D and QA objectives are aligned with business needs and external expectations. Oversees the planning and execution of product reviews, technical investigations, formulation and process improvements, new ingredient/processing technologies, emulation assessments, process capability/control for existing products, and labeling requirements. Develops and implements Quality and Food Safety standards. Coordinates Division adherence to SQF and BRC Quality objectives. Sets the direction for the division to improve product emulation objectives and reduce quality attribute variation. Sets the direction for the R&D team in the Division Product Development Process. Manages capital and expense budgets for the Technical Services team. Ensures the Vendor Quality Program meets business requirements and is fully deployed and compliant across the division. Ensures ingredient and finished product specifications are properly developed, maintained, and compliant. Oversees Consumer Complaint activities to include investigations, claim resolution and top to top contact with key customers. Drives quality improvement improvements through Total Quality, SPC, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains a network of professional, business and industrial contacts. Supports gross sales in excess of $1.5 Billion annually. Leads a Technical Services team comprised of 20 – 25 professionals.

Job Qualifications
BS degree in Food Science or related technical degree. An MS in Food Science, Management or other Technical field a plus. 10 plus years experience in the top Technical Services role for a business or business unit similar to the size of Ralcorp Snacks, Sauces & Spreads. 20 plus years experience in a combination of Research & Development and Quality Assurance. Experience to include product development, quality management, management responsibilities and legal compliance. Strong management and interpersonal skills; 10 years direct supervisory experience. General business background with strong analytical, financial, and facilitation skills. Strong leadership qualities – ability to build teams and influence at all levels of the organization. Strong Project Management skills. Superior problem solving and decision making skills. Multi-plant experience preferred. PC proficient in Windows environment. Ability to travel (approximately 20% - 30%).
