Vice President of Sales & Business Development

Position Summary

Local Thunder seeks a dynamic, savvy sales and business development leader to join its team.  You must have significant business development experience in the online space, preferably in the areas of search, online marketing or online shopping.  Your primary responsibilities will be to identify structure and negotiate a range of large, complex content, media, and third party vendor and technology deals.  This is an external facing role with broad exposure to and interaction with all departments including technology, sales and sales operations, product, marketing and finance. Responsibilities are both tactical and strategic in nature.

 

Position Responsibilities 

-    Structure and successfully negotiate complex revenue-driving or revenue-sharing deals. 
-    Be responsible for meeting both personal as well as department sales goals. 
-    Manage multiple daily tasks and longer-term strategic projects. 
-    Work independently with effectiveness and efficiency while also collaborating with internal teams. 
-    Establishment, management and ultimate responsibility for the overall national US sales goals. 
-    Engage in consultative selling with target prospects 
-    Develop target markets such as local search, media and online marketing verticals. 
-    Understand and articulate the complex business relationships of Internet and traditional media business, especially the hurdles and

     opportunities small businesses face in using the Internet for marketing and advertising. 
-    Develop and manage a business development and sales lead qualification program. 
-    Build metrics and manage the process of sales forecasting. 
-    Represent the company at relevant trade shows. 
-    Hire and manage sales executives.


Position Qualifications:

-    Minimum 7+ years relevant Business Development work experience and a track record of success. 
-    Successful experience in a startup company a plus. 
-    Prior experience with Internet and Internet convergence products. 
-    Understanding of the needs of small business advertisers and their use of both traditional and online marketing tools. 
-    Excellent business acumen and strong understanding of the online space. 
-    Ability to be productive & focused in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. 
-    Articulate speaker, able to represent the product and industry. Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
-    Results oriented, extremely proactive & highly responsive with great attention to detail. 
-    Position based in Portland, ME; moderate travel required. 
-    Excellent computer skills; Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
-    Understanding of the business opportunities for local online advertising, marketing and media. 
-    Advanced business knowledge of online trends such as social media, handset devices, search and local online advertising. 
-    Able to work within a team.


Education

-      BS or BA Degree; MBA a plus.


Compensation

-          Salary/Bonus/Equity incentive based on performance and experience.

Location and Travel

 

 -      Position based in Portland, ME; moderate travel required.
