Vocational Instructor

About the Job

 

The Vocational Instructor will work with Young Adults in the acquisition and enhancement of work-related basic and occupational skills in preparation for employment. The Vocational Instructor will present a model of training that will maximize the opportunity for each client to master skills being presented.  The Vocational Instructor will be responsible for conducting work readiness training. The Vocational Instructor is to facilitate the career training components in one of the occupational area, such as Retail/Customer Service, Medical Assistant, Hospitality or Network Cabling courses. The Vocational Instructor will adapt standard curriculum to their individual environment and client population.

  • Prepare manuals and course material with learning objectives clearly defined and exercises illustrating the point of the training unit.
  • Prepares lesson plans in employability and job search, remediation and occupational topics. 
  • Facilitate regular participant workshops on a range of topics related to program outcomes. 
  • Manage classroom activity and prepare and maintains appropriate classroom documentation. 
  • Demonstrate and explain cable modem operation, network software and online service to customers 

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience preferably working with the young adults and adults and/or training programs.
  • Related BA or BS Degree (social services, counseling, and business) preferred.
  • Bilingual with English and Spanish preferred but not requried
  • Ability to travel within a designated area
  • Experience using communication skills that include presentation and listening skills; writing skills and the ability to manage distractions and interruptions. 
  • Experience with MS office, XP, hardware knowledge is a plus. 
  • Experience with Low Voltage cabling installation
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and hours, including weekends and holidays if required.
  • Experience with trouble shoot network system related service problems from the Modem to the Tap
  • Must have knowledge and be able to install all types of Voice, Data Broadband and Wireless networks.
  • Must have knowledge of and be able to maintain Routers, Servers and other hardware.
  • OSHA 10 certification required, able to certify in OSHA 10 a plus.
