Warehouse Distribution Supervisor 2nd Shift

Primary Purpose:  Lead the daily activities of associates engaged in any/all functions of warehousing and/or distribution of merchandise and materials.  Serve as a Supervisor in any/all areas of the facility to include, but not limited to the receipt, storage, inspection, processing and shipping of merchandise and materials to stores.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinate the flow of merchandise to be received, processed and shipped.  This involves communication/coordination with other team members.
  • Monitor production volumes and delegate work assignments to ensure timely and accurate completion of workload  in compliance with departmental procedures
  • Supervise and train associates in department functions, procedures, and rules
  • Research, evaluate, and resolve problems and adjustments on a daily basis
  • Communicate issues and results with respective management team members as required
  • Provide consistent enforcement of work rules
  • Support team building at all levels within our distribution environment
  • Communicate and enforce safe work practices to prevent accidents
  • Partners with manager on coaching and counseling staff to resolve performance related issues
  • Administers timely feedback to include performance appraisal discussions, actions in accordance with the disciplanery process, etc.
  • Conduct meetings to communicate updates, priorities and changes to associates
  • Maintain needed stock of department supplies, tools and equipment
  • Assume additional duties and responsibilities as required to meet the established goals of the facility

 

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities: 

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and plan and execute responsibilities on schedule
  • Able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in all situations
  • Ability to prioritize activities, direct and motivate a team to achieve maximum results in their daily work
  • Ability to manage conflict, strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Basic PC knowledge, including the use of Microsoft Excel and Word and Outlook.

Include monitoring the activities and work of associates; making judgments about or assessing accuracy of system functions and information; providing information to managers, supervisors and subordinates face-to-face, in writing or via telephone or radio contact; providing guidance and direction to subordinates including monitoring and maintaining performance standards; identifying developmental needs of subordinates and coaching to improve their knowledge of skills.
