Warehouse Supervisor

Job Summary:

The 2nd Shift Warehouse Supervisor plans and directs the daily warehouse operations, including but not limited to labor scheduling, supervision, and proper utilization of space, equipment, and manpower.  The Warehouse Supervisor must successfully interface his activities with the Customer Service staff in order to fully understand and satisfy the storage and distribution needs of each customer.

 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

·         Perform functions as directed by Supervisor.

·         Accountable for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the facility and equipment.

·         Schedule all distribution services including receiving, storing, shipping, handling returned/damaged goods, maintenance, packaging, and administrative activities to ensure customer requirements are met in an efficient manner.

·         Control and direct all common carrier transportation into and out of the warehouse to meet company standards of customer service, cost, safety, and security.                               

·         Evaluate and document the work efforts of warehouse employees against an established benchmark of performance.  When standards are not achieved, the Warehouse Supervisor must effectively communicate operational deficiencies to warehouse workers.

·         Assist the General Manager and/or Operations Manager in developing a warehouse layout plan that will maximize space usage and handling efficiencies.

·         Effectively utilize all available resources, including personnel, to meet or exceed customer’s needs.

·         Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all customers.

·         Enforce Company work rules, policies, and procedures applying a fair and effective combination of motivational techniques and disciplinary measures to reinforce sound behavioral objectives for warehouse workers.

·         Assist in the development and implementation of hiring, training and evaluating warehouse workers.

·         Ensure that product is properly stored according to customer requirements as well as local, State, and Federal requirements as well as control of lot number and shelf like rotation.  Hazardous material, if stored, must be handled and stored strictly according to directions outlined in the Material Safety Data Sheet for that commodity.

·         Assist in the creation and implementation of health and safety programs.  Provide safety instruction and formal training to personnel as needed.  Report and document all work-related injuries.  Provide immediate medical attention to injured employees as necessary.

·         Maintain compliance in First Aid/CPR training as required and directed by the Company.

·         Ensure that equipment is well maintained and properly used only by qualified and trained personnel.

·         Maintain a working knowledge of regulation:  OSHA, EPA, DOT requirements, State and local regulations, any advisory codes such as NFPA or BOCCA that are incorporated into certain jurisdiction mandates.

·         Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

·         Maintain a professional attitude among co-workers and visitors to the facility.

 

 

 

 

Education & Skills Requirements

·            High school diploma or GED required.

·            Strong general background in warehouse operations, and direct warehouse management experience.

·            Possess knowledge of warehouse management systems and radio frequency equipment.

·            Good communication skills, people management skills, customer service, leadership, motivational, and planning skills a must.

·            Knowledge and proficiency of PC skills, Excel, Word
