About the Job


The Warehouse Supervisor, also called an Area Manager will have first line, direct accountability for the daily operations of a particular department within a large 3PL distribution facility in Elwood, IL. The Area Manager is responsible for delivering and executing daily plans to achieve operational and business goals. She/he will participate in planning and delivering near term business goals and objectives. The Area Manager is responsible for mentoring, developing, and coaching non-exempt direct reports to improve efficiencies and identify associate growth opportunities. The position requires strong leadership, interpersonal, and management skills. The Area Manager is responsible for the success of the assigned areas and team. He/She actively and regularly communicates and interacts with peers in other areas to insure the fluid transition of workload from area to area. The Area Manager typically reports to an Operations Manager.

  

Candidates must be able and willing to work any shift in this 24/7 operation.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·         Deliver a safe work environment by monitoring associate performance, equipment, and building condition

·         Accountable for maintaining a high standard of housekeeping/sanitation throughout the facility

·         Lead, develop, and mentor direct reports

·         Manage areas of responsibility including functional, operational, and support

·         Must be fair, consistent, respectful, and professional at all times

·         Must set expectations and hold associates accountable

·         Participate in delivering projects as assigned

·         Plan and organizes daily and near term workload for maximum efficiency and effectiveness

·         Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to direct reports

·         Deliver area goals and objectives while supporting the broader organization

·         Interact and communicate with all levels of leadership; internally (SLTD) and externally (customer & vendors) 

·         Promotes and delivers continuous improvement

·         Successfully balance Safety, Quality, and productivity performance to achieve business goals

·         Successfully collaborate and coordinate with peers  to meet or exceed all KPIs, goals, and objectives

·         Responsible for  his/her individual career growth as a contribution to support the development of a strong leadership team

·         Actively participate in the decision making process and challenge ideas 

·         Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment

·         Insure all associates receive proper and adequate training to perform required functions

·         Insures that established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed

·         Maintains a high level of integrity and ethics

·         Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·         Must have a basic knowledge of safety principles and philosophy

·         Strong/successful  leadership skills

·         Strong/successful interpersonal relationship skills

·         Strong oral and written communication skills

·         Strong desire to succeed

·         Ability to succeed in a high powered Team environment to drive business success

·         Must understand operational discipline principles and demonstrate a sense of urgency

·         Must be able to prioritize effectively

·         Must be forward looking to analyze opportunities to deliver continuous improvement

·         Associates accepted (College Degree strongly preferred)

·         Advanced College Degree (e.g. Bachelor’s or Master’s) a plus

·         Must have at least 2 years demonstrated work history and experience  in logistics or distribution

·         Import retail experience a plus

·         Must be very proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office and Warehouse Management Systems.

·         Must be flexible with working hours – ability to work any shift, including swing shifts as needed

·         Able to plan, organize, coordinate and oversee the area operations

·         Must be able to deliver expected service to the customer (both internal and external)

·         High attention to detail and accuracy – knows how to run very tight processes

·         Work in a fast paced work environment with constant interruptions and changes to production schedules

·         Previous experience in 3PL environment, strongly preferred

·         Demonstrated leadership skills
