Description

Warehouse Supervisor: Assists a Defense Agency perform complete management and operation of its warehousing services, which consists of moving supplies between receipt and storage locations, storage and inventory management. Supervises non-exempt production staff in the performance of a variety of duties: shipping, receiving, stocking, storing and inventory selection. In addition to supervising staff, prepares and maintains various regular inventory and or shipping reports to management, authorizes and or rejects shipments and resolves discrepancies. Supervises staff, makes work assignments, maintains work area and serves as task lead to deal directly with Government client in the resolution of task issues. Keeps company management apprises of issues that arise. Additional duties include responding to all customer requests pertaining to the shipment and receipt of items of equipment and storage of materials in accordance with all government and industry standards. Also ensures all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, as required, ensuring the appropriate military and commercial calibration methods are employed. Other warehouse related tasks, as necessary, to include pick up and delivery of items and ability to operate an electric forklift is desirable.
Essential Job Functions
  • Supervises routine warehouse activities to ensure the efficient and economic utilization of facilities for storing and distributing raw materials and finished goods inventories.
  • Supervises the receipt and storage of equipment, merchandise, materials and similar items in a storeroom or warehouse. Ensures that items are appropriately marked or tagged for identification purposes and to maintain accurate inventories of all required materials and to replenish materials in a timely manner, as needed.
  • Supervises, prepares and maintains various regular inventory and/or shipping reports for management review. Authorizes and/or rejects shipments and resolves discrepancies involved in routine inventory activities, to ensure that appropriate level warehouse are performed in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Assists in determining space requirements for storage, scheduling deliveries, and distributing products, parts and accessories to achieve distribution objectives and meet client requirements.
  • Prepares and analyzes inventory reports of slow-moving and/or surplus stock to return and/or discard excess inventory and ensure efficient utilization of warehouse space.
  • Supervises and provides work guidance to employees in filling orders and/or requisitioning for materials to ensure that adherence to company contracting and purchasing policies and guidelines.
  • Researches business market for new supplies and materials; contacts established vendors for the ordering and/or reordering of supplies to ensure that company inventory needs are met and maintain company expenditure at established levels.
  • Recommends and/or initiates the selection and hiring of employees. Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Makes recommendations for salary increases, transfers and terminations to manager.


Qualification

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • Four or more years of warehouse experience
  • Experience working with company inventory needs, products and services inventory
  • Experience working with purchasing in order to interact with vendors
  • Experience working with administrative and/or workflow systems
  • Experience working with bookkeeping

Other Qualifications
  • Communication skills to communicate with customers, business unit personnel, management and vendors
  • Personal computer and business solutions software skills for maintaining, tracking and routing inventory
  • Basic negotiation, business and contract writing skills
  • Human relations skills to select, develop, mentor, discipline and reward employees
  • Ability to create and maintain formal and informal networks
  • Ability to work in a team environment
