  Web Application Architect

Job Description:

The Application Architect is a web 2.0 guru and responsible for extending existing Intranet capabilities and for architecting new application frameworks as well as developing technical specifications from functional business requirements. This position will be responsible for performance, availability, and scalability of the applications. The Architect must have applied knowledge in developing RESTful Web Services within WebSphere Portal Server and outside of IT.

Web Application Architect Skills and Required Qualifications:


  • Java

  • JavaScript, AJAX, DHTML, and HTML

  • Dojo

  • WebSphere Portal Server (preferably 6.1.5)

  • WebSphere Application Server

  • DB2

  • XML and JSON

  • Web Application Architecture (LAMP and J2EE)

  • Web Services - SOAP and REST

  • Telecommuter / mobile (considered 2-3 days per week)



The selected candidate must have the ability to apply leading edge methodologies, tools, and techniques to help users / technical teams develop and document application system specifications. It is critical to have excellent communication skills; as the person may be asked to perform the role of Business Analyst on many of the projects. UDB/DB2 experience is required, and LDAP knowledge will be helpful.

Further, an understanding of and conversancy with the latest trends in Web technologies is required (social networking / computing, mash-ups, mobile Web, etc.).
