Summary:
SAM eLearning develops and supports a variety of web applications and systems used to deliver online training to Thomson Reuters - Legal employees and customers. The systems include the West eLearning Center, Continuing West Education, Continuing FindLaw Education and Carswell Online On Demand Learning sites. As an eLearning Developer/Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the ongoing design, development and operation of these platforms along with additional applications used for delivery of training. This position requires strong web application development and problem solving skills.
The duties of the eLearning Online Developer/Software Engineer include:
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Design, develop and maintain online training delivery and management applications.
- Design and develop applications to enhance learning management implementation and current eLearning tools.
- Develop evaluation and feedback applications to measure course effectiveness, improve course design and training implementation practices.
- Design, develop and maintain performance support applications.
- Propose revisions to processes as required.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with gathering and review of requirements and preparation of specifications
- Recommend appropriate technical solutions design to meet business requirements.
- Build applications and databases to specification.
- Provide continued expert support of the development after implementation.
- Troubleshoot and solve issues as needed
Job Requirements:
- Four-year college degree in computer science or related field
- Minimum 3 years experience in web application development
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with web programming and database development including HTML, VBScript, JavaScript, Active Server Pages, AJAX, XML required. Familiarity with ASP.NET preferred.
- Demonstrated experience using SQL Server, including T-SQL, Stored Procedures and Web Services is required. Experience with Reporting Services preferred.
- Familiarity with web site usability concepts and experience with web site design using CSS preferred.
- Experience working in a fast paced results oriented environment.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong teamwork, organization, decision making and troubleshooting skills are required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work successfully and cooperatively in a flexible self-directed team environment with professionals from a variety of disciplines
- Proficiency in MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
