WhiteFence, one of the fastest-growing companies in Houston, currently has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, service-minded individual to join our fast-paced company as a Web Application Developer with web programming and scripting skills to support and extend our existing web-applications and dynamic websites. The ideal candidate must be able to work within Unix and Linux environments, be a self-starter but also capable of working with teams. The candidate must also have excellent analytical and problem solving skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain web applications, prototypes, and modules
  
• Play an active role in requirements and design meetings
  
• Documentation of new and existing scripts and libraries
  
• Assist and support web design and marketing teams
  
• Work closely with application development and integration teams

Required Experience

• 2+ years of PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby or other server-side scripting languages
  
• 2+ years of XML and web services
  
• 3+ years of HTML, Javascript, CSS, Ajax
  
• Strong User Experience background
  
• Ability to learn and adapt to emerging technologies at a rapid pace
  
• Ability to effectively interface with and influence personnel at all levels
  
• Exceptional communication (written and oral) skills
  
• Maintain a high sense of urgency
  
• Must have a flexible schedule being able to work extended hours as needed
  
• No travel required

Additional Desired Experience

• Apache configuration, shell scripting, and basic UNIX systems
  
• CVS/Subversion, Eclipse, Java, XSL and SQL
  
• E-commerce websites and applications
  
• Open source web applications and technologies (CMS, forums, blogs, etc)
