Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Interactive Media, the incumbent designs, produces and maintains various Einstein websites, works on the main site, and contributes to the overall Web Communications strategy and special projects.
- Develop design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content, for the main Einstein web site and for department / center / laboratory websites.
- Create visual concepts that match the content and the image wanted by the clients but that fit in the Einstein's global image; ensure that sites are easy to navigate.
- Ensure that the layout of the content is accessible and logical; recommend improvements as necessary.
- Perform maintenance and updates to existing websites when requested by clients.
- Provide training on maintenance and update procedures to clients who update their own websites.
- Contribute to the overall development of the Web Communications group and of the Einstein website.
- Create/edit images and graphics for website use.
- Create slides for the flat screen monitors.
- Coordinate with programmers for specialized scripts.

- Bachelor's degree in discipline related to the primary responsibilities and four to six years of experience in web design, with a minimum of two year's experience producing tableless, XHTML, standards-compliant cross browser web pages.
- Advanced knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and of digital imaging
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator.
- Ability to convert the design into web-ready format (XHTML/CSS)
- Knowledge of dynamic HTML; experience with Macromedia Flash.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.).
- Attention to detail and creativity in problem-solving a must.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Superior knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques, along with a strong online portfolio displaying user-centered design.
