Job Description:


Akimeka LLC, a Hawaiian based company, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced hands on technician to lead our Web Development team.  The position, located at Ft. Detrick in Frederick, Maryland, involves direct full life-cycle participation in architecture, design, development and implemention of data warehouse applications. The position will involve managing Java development efforts and direct contribution to the team technical implementations. This includes taking a leading role in the development of key systems functionalities. The project involves the development and sustainment of a joint services medical material data warehouse within the Department of Defense. U.S. Citizenship is required.  Additional duties include:



  • Technical team leadership. Individual will be expected to drive development results through management, mentoring and leadership of a team of approximately 7 developers to ensure the development of comprehensive and error free application solutions.  Individual would also be expected to contribute to hands-on development of critical code sets.   

  • Participate in all phases of development for enhancements and project work.

  • Ensure that code is developed using “Best Practices”.

  • Collaborate with Systems Analysts and Functional Analysts by reviewing business requirements and translating them into clearly defined detailed technical specifications

  • Prepare and deliver design presentations to all levels of internal staff.

  • Comprehensive skills and demonstrated abilities in code design, development and testing using industry standard SDLC and  methodologies

  • Conduct/participate in code walkthroughs.

  • Work with management and staff to create solid test plans for Unit & System Testing.

  • Participate in the planning and installation for all code releases.

  • Assist staff with production issues and/or coding issues.

  • Proactively work with peers and direct reports to proactively manage development staff to meet project goals within expected timelines.

 


Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a physical science, engineering, a mathematics-intensive discipline, or related field.  Nine years relevant experience may be substituted for education.

  • At least seven years of overall development experience with 3+ years leading architecture and design for complex projects

 


Required Skills:


·         Strong application development experience with the following languages (JAVA, JSP, XML, BPEL, HTML, DHTML) and UML modeling and SOA Architecture.


·         Demonstrates comprehensive Java Web technology experience developing complex analysis and reporting applications.


·         Comprehensive database experience with large scale databases. Oracle experience with version 10 or later is required.


·         Strong Object Oriented Technology background


·         Experience with web services, service oriented architecture, and a variety components in the technology stacks, etc.


·         Solid skills in Systems Analysis and Detail Design, with experience in all phases of one or more Development Methodologies.


·         Excellent communication, organized and self starter, requiring minimal supervision


 


Desired Skills:



  • Experience or working knowledge of the Department of Defense (DOD) Enterprise Architecture (DODAF, NCID) a plus.

  • Experience and working knowledge of the DOD Information Technology Standards and DOD software lifecycle management processes.

  • Data warehouse experience
