Senior Engineer - Internet Engineering
THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST FOR THE POSITION: DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE
- VISIO (for Diagramming)
- DESIGN infrastructures with some of the following involved. ON a UNIX platform. This group works with Security
- Knowledge in Networks.... layer 3... Firewall, Load Balancers, Netscaler
- IP's, SUBNET, TCP, DNS
- Middleware Applications (eg One of either Webshepere or WEBLOGIC and TOMCAT, APACHE. If they have JBOSS big plus but not required) and Technology
- Some .NET experience will be a plus.
- GOOD COMMUNICATION is A MUST !
- Work Independantly (will not be much mentoring small group of 5 people)
Job Description:
Supporting role, working with a lead Internet Engineer, responsible for the delivery of Internet infrastructure solutions, including analysis, design, drawings, and various infrastructure requests.
Must identify and define infrastructure requirements for new applications and systems adhering to MasterCard standards, processes, and best practices.
Major Responsibilities:
· Partner with lead Internet Engineer to plan, design, and develop technical solutions for web-based infrastructure to meet business requirements in adherence with MasterCard standards, with a high level of innovation, quality, cost effectiveness, and speed to market.
· Responsible for delivery and presentation of final design diagrams as well as submission of relevant infrastructure requests.
Required Skill Set:
· Broad understanding of Internet technology concepts, methodologies, and best practices including 3 tiered architecture, high level networking & load-balancing concepts, as well as security and web platform technologies.
· Must be detail-oriented, proactive, and a quick learner, able to function under pressure in an independent environment, with appropriate guidance from a Lead Internet Engineer.
· Ability to quickly adapt to shifting changes in technology and priorities.
· Must be a self-starter who can take initiative where necessary to meet deadlines and answer questions.
· Must have ability to ask intelligent, probing questions, and identify discrepancies in infrastructure requirements & proposed solutions.
· Ability to learn, understand, and reinforce various MasterCard specific policies and standards.
· Ability to instill confidence in others when working with partner teams.
· Ability to learn and take on challenging opportunities and work with a variety of individuals across the organization.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience Desired:
· Web Servers (Apache, IHS, IIS)
· Java Application Server (IBM Websphere, JBoss)
· Internet-based infrastructure design
· UNIX-based operating systems (SUN Solaris, IBM AIX, RHEL)
· Security technologies and concepts: SSL (Secure Socket Layer), Mutual Authentication, digital certificates (hardware and software), Data Encryption, and digital signing certificates
Additional Experience a Plus:
· Web Service standards
· Application firewalls & load-balancing devices
· nCipher technologies
· Experience working with agile development teams.
· Microsoft Visio
· Windows Operating System; .NET applications; IIS/IHS web servers
· An understanding of Payment Card Industry (PCI) specifications and industry regulations
