An online gaming company is in need of an experienced QA Engineer to work on software-to-browser embedding technology. The Engineer will have an opportunity to work with a creative team covering a wide range of skills, ranging from databases, jabber backend, python middleware, C++ game integration, to JavaScript/PHP front-end work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in client/server systems and web services.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead defect management: defect status, root cause and daily triage meeting.
  • Write test plans for multiple server components, test cases and participate in code reviews.
  • Develop test tools to facilitate integration testing.
  • Setup and execute performance testing; drive defect reports towards resolution; propose and designs retest cases and data.
  • Review requirements and specifications for potential performance risks/issues and provides input during requirement and specification walkthroughs.
  • Provide quality assurance on product releases.
  • Actively define the QA process through requirements/design analysis and the development of test strategies and test plans for internal and external products.
  • Work closely with the Developers to isolate and resolve issue.

This is a temp to hire position through Volt Technical Resources- a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, located in Portland, Oregon. We are among the largest IT staffing companies in the US for contract/temporary and direct hire placements and support most of the top rated IT companies in the Pacific Northwest.



Requirements:

Required Skills for this Web/Server QA Engineer position includes the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of applicable professional QA experience.
  • 2+ years experience with C/C++ or Python programming.
  • Programming experience in JavaScript, Perl, PHP and/or Ruby are beneficial.
  • Experience with HP Functional Test Pro, QuickTest Pro, or WinRunner.
  • Familiarity in two or more areas of test automation, network security and quality assurance.
  • Background in QA methodologies.
  • Experience testing software on multiple operating systems, including various versions of Microsoft Windows and Mac.
  • Experience with networking, general desktop and client/server software applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic defects, networking and operating system problems.
  • Load Runner script development a strong plus.
  • Team-player with the ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Able to identify and learn new technologies quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
