Web developer

The Altarum Institute has an immediate opening for a Web Developer with a minimum of 5-7 years experience in the end-to-end design and development of enterprise .asp, ASP.NET, and Sharepoint web applications. The successful candidate must be a highly skilled and experienced developer with a solid design background. The candidate must possess a strong understanding of design principles, information architecture, interface design patterns, usability best practices, 508 compliance, etc. This individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment that will require managing multiple concurrent projects, while maintaining extreme attention to detail on each one. It is essential that this candidate have the ability to thrive in a team environment, yet be self-guided.

This position requires someone who has a passion for design as well as coding. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator with all levels of personnel, with the ability to explain technology to non-technical staff and clients in an understandable, effective manner. While the individual needs to operate at a high level, they will be primarily responsible for hands-on development work to ensure that initiatives of the project, and the mission of the organization, are continually carried forth.

KEY ROLES & FUNCTIONS
• Deliver compelling UI designs/layouts that adhere to client (mostly government client) technical specifications & branding, W3C usability standards, and 508-compliance requirements.
• Storyboard development, architecture/site mapping, and functional requirements development for enterprise-class solutions;
• Implement solutions based on project specifications and business requirements;
• Create new and update existing site templates based on changing business requirements; • Create class libraries and services using the Microsoft .NET Framework and its associated technologies;
• Create and deploy Sharepoint features including master pages, content types, page layouts, workflows etc.;
• Create, manage, streamline, and administer SQL server databases
• Understand and be able to manage (at a high-level) an extensive development, staging and production infrastructure and its related dependencies such as (IIS, AD, SQL, DNS, and virtualization);
• Work as part of a team or as an individual as dictated by project requirements and deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS
• College degree, plus 5-7 years’ experience in the development of enterprise sites/applications.
• Strong C#/VB.net, .asp, ASP.NET (master pages, web parts, provider model, ADO.NET), 24x7x365 “carrier grade” development experience;
• MOSS - Sharepoint 2007 experience a must
• SQL Server administration experience a must
• Expert level of understanding in JavaScript, JSP, Java, HTML/XHTML, CSS and AJAX with direct experience optimizing application designs utilizing these technologies
• Strong Visual design skills;
