JCI is currently hiring a Production Technician III to work in our Port Arthur, Texas location. This position requires the employee to perform duties of a Production Technician III as needed to support the Port Arthur, Texas facility. 

 

 

Responsibilities:



  • Demonstrate safe work practices in accordance with the Johnson Controls Safety Program, OSHA and EPA.



  • Completes and passes 6G GMAW P1-P1-2 and P8-316 weld test, and/or any other code/customer/quality related requirements.



  • Works from intermediate level sketches, prints, operation sheets, preliminary drawings, and written/verbal instructions.



  • Completes intermediate level welds by cleaning, preparing, cutting, burning, and welding pieces; selecting methods; and setting up and measuring assemblies.



  • Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, and guides using measuring instruments and hand tools.



  • Uses hand welding and flame cutting equipment, such as arc welders, gas welders, plasma arc and gas torches to weld together metal components (flat, horizontal, or vertical plates and pipes).



  • Sets up and operates all welding/cutting equipment.



  • Verifies welding results by inspecting and hydro-testing welds insuring conformance to specifications.



  • Gathers welding equipment and materials by studying specifications and component requirements.



  • Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.



  • No instructions needed on routine work, and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments



  • Ability to work as a team player, including working with Machine Operators, Technicians, Material Handlers, Engineers, and other members of management to resolve issues and meet customer requirements, is required.











Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Education/Experience

Requires that the employee have at least a H. S. Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.   Preferred candidate should have at least 1 - 3 years of experience.

 

The position must be able to operate with minimal supervision, and must be willing to work with others that they interact with to resolve problems and meet customer requirements.  The employee must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Must be able to read and comprehend general business documents, computer printouts, and invoices.  Must have strong organizational skills, a desire to learn, and be detail oriented. Must demonstrate ability to handle new and changing tasks, follow instructions and defined procedures, and show a willingness to learn. Must be able to work well with others and be a productive team member.

 

Work Conditions:  

Extended hours and/or overtime may be required based on workload.  General work area is in a production environment where moderate levels of noise and/or heat and cold occur.  Employees will frequently operate mechanical equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks, ladders, etc.

The physical demands listed are essential in order for the employee of this position to successfully perform this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  The employee will occasionally be required to physically lift, pull, push or apply force up to 50 lbs.  Occasional grasping, bending, stooping, and twisting involved.  Extended periods of squatting, standing, climbing, kneeling and walking are occasionally required.  The employee must have constant free mobility of hands, wrists and arms in order to operate hand tools, computer equipment and materials storage equipment.  Some physical and mechanical dexterity required.
