Installs, configures and maintains organization's operating systems on Intel Architecture Servers. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware, server operating systems, and server applications software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports server-related problems on all Microsoft and Linux based systems. Performs a wide variety of tasks in software/hardware maintenance, and operational support of Windows and Linux Server systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have Blade Technologies, SAN and VMWare
Education, skills, and experience:
1. Bachelor's degree/technical certification in Computer Science or related field of Information Technology or equivalent experience and 5 years experience as a Windows Server Administrator.
2. Strong working knowledge of Windows 2003 Server, Exchange 2003, and Windows administration required
3. Basic installation and administration of SQL, Oracle, and Access databases required.
4. Experience working with Linux, Aix, or UNIX is preferred.
5. MCSE and Network Plus preferred.
6. Strong oral and written communication, organization, problem solving, critical thinking, and ability to work without direct supervision
7. Ability to meet deadlines
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
1. Daily system administration of multiple servers to maintain a high level of performance, uptime, and security.
2. Manages the backup environment of all servers.
3. Domain and Exchange Administration and Security.
4. Install new hardware as required for new projects and replace older hardware when appropriate to retire dated technology.
5. Work with Director of Personal Computing and Telecommunications Resources and Infrastructure in capacity planning to meet current and future computing needs.
6. In conjunction with the IS Director, develops project plans for all major IT initiatives within the company.
7. Provide upper-level technical support for technical issues escalated by the help desk.
8. Work with outside vendors to deploy and manage applications in a distributed computing environment.
