The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and implementing programs, as required, to support the technical capabilities at our organization. To be successful in this role one must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment. This role requires good communication skills, both with team members and business contacts. This role will develop and implement scripts and packages to deploy windows applications to clients and servers. The Systems Engineer will provide packaging and scripting technical guidance to application deployment teams. In addition, the successful Systems Engineer must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects. This role requires excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

• Participate in the design, planning and deployment of business applications on the Windows platform
• Ensure company standard server technologies are being followed by all business groups
• Software packaging and distribution
• Client and Server image development and deployment
• Interact with hardware and software vendors to assure timely resolution to any issues
• Participate in Windows Systems Group projects
• Participate in functional test planning and testing for the Windows environment and related applications.
• Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the Windows environment and related applications.
• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the Windows environment and related applications.
• Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking responsibility for seeing those issues thru resolution.
• Mentor less experienced Engineers
• Research and implement new technologies to improve the windows environment

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Excellent knowledge of Windows NT/2000/2003 server and client technologies
• Excellent knowledge of SMS and SCCM in a distributed environment
• Excellent knowledge of Visual Basic, Macro Wise VB scripting, WMI and WSH.
• Excellent knowledge of SMS installer and SMS technologies
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Accomplishes task with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience
• Experience working in an enterprise environment of more than 1000 users with a large remote and disconnected user base
• Must have at least 2 years experience with Software Distribution via SMS/SCCM
• Experience with Windows PE, Group Policy Objects and security settings associated with locking down an image
• Experience troubleshooting MSI errors
• Experience with MSTs (Transforms) and MSPs (Patches)
• Must have experience with conflict resolution and Pre-flight checklists
• Must have knowledge and experience using Wise scripting
• Must have experience with software database management and software package libraries
• Experience with VMWare workstation 4.x/5.x
• MCSE or equivalent certification on SMS and/or SCCM
