We have an immediate need for a Wireless Validation Engineer for a full time, benefited opportunity with our outsourcing team.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties include but are not limited to: Create test cases from product specifications, create test runs to validate functionality, track bugs with product to ensure feature functionality. Understand test methodology being used as well as provide input on methodology and product health. Setup, conduct tests, document results, and debug computer software, hardware, networks, and/or wireless equipment. A highly disciplined debug methodology, including paying close attention to detail, maintaining detailed configuration and testing documentation, with good verbal and written communication skills.
There may be some usage of RF analysis equipment, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzer/sniffers, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators. There may be some limited automation programming.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Troubleshoot issues within Windows and Linux applications.
Troubleshoot issues within the networking and wireless networking environment.
Configure multiple wireless security profiles on an access point and client.
Debug drivers when needed for in-depth bug analysis.
Field basic feature-related inquiries.
Communicate bug details efficiently with developers and engineers.
Development of test methods.
Creation of test cases and test runs, and ensuring feature coverage.
Wireless validation testing using TCP/IP and RF analysis equipment.
HIRING REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:
Undergraduate Engineering or Technology degree strongly preferred, equivalent work experience accepted.
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a QA Engineering function and/or equivalent experience in a related discipline required.
Knowledge of commonly used systems troubleshooting, practices and procedures.
Strong on initiative and a self-starter
Capable of identifying bugs in product, have the confidence to analyze and understand it, write up a bug report, and recommend actions.
Strong background in networking protocols
Strong attention to detail skills.
Experience working with Windows, Linux* or UNIX* operating systems, 32- and 64-bit
Experience in validation
Experience in IP Internetworking (wired and wireless).
Knowledge on how to debug drivers when needed for in-depth bug analysis
SECONDARY REQUIREMENTS / NICE TO HAVE:
Experience in software development and scripting
Experience with 802.1x security systems
Experience with Cisco* IOS
Experience writing software using Windows API calls
Experience with automation programming/scripting using Tcl, C, C#, VB, VB Script, Perl, Silk, etc.
This opportunity is in Hillsboro, OR, and the work is performed Monday-Friday from approximately 8AM-5PM. Local candidates will receive first preference, as in-person interviews are required.
