developing new applications or product launch testing plan and procedures, data analysis, and communication of results for TPE/TPO powder formulations.
Responsible for optimizing customer processes and conditions while providing education to external customers on how to run our powder formulations.
Responsible to troubleshoot issues raised by the powder coating customers. May be accountable for or participate in the resolution of customer complaints.
-Develop new or modified TPE/TPO powder formulations to satisfy customer needs.
-Evaluate TPE/TPO formulations in the laboratory for various specialty coating applications.
-Provide technical assistance to sales and marketing for the growth of specialty coating business.
-Conducts literature and patent search to guide experimentation.
-Interacts with customers to gather information related to the development of new and improved TPE/TPO powder formulations.
-Provide technical service to specialty coating customers to support SC strategy and projects.
-Participate in resolution of customer complaints and issues.
-Provide technical support to manufacturing to resolve quality and production issues.
-Gathers competitive intelligence on powder coating product technology.
-Documents Technical work in lab notebooks and reports.
-Serve as Technical Lead in projects related to TPE formulations.
-Travel to plants and customers up to 25% required.
-Partner with manufacturing resources to establish product specifications and evaluation of new and alternate raw materials for TPE/TPO formulations.
-Participate in the planning of projects using our innovation pipeline process.
-Operates to safety standards.
-Detailed background/knowledge of TPE/TPO powder formulations.
-Thermoplastic polymer formulation experience in TPE/TPO formulations, applications, testing, and processing is a significant plus. Other polymer experience including PVC, PE, Nylon helpful.
-Experience in automotive material development is a significant plus.
-Experience to think strategically while working in a team environment
-Experience in powder coating technology is a significant plus.
-Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Requires considerable initiative and decision making judgment.
-Detailed oriented, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, assess priorities to meet deadlines, recognize workflow and carefully plan for short term and long term projects.
-Ability to interface effectively with internal scientific, engineering and business functions as well as external customers and suppliers
-Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) and the ability to utilize new software packages as introduced

-Work closely with the team to understand CPVC resin technology from laboratory scale to pilot plant scale and on to commercial scale
-Develop and conduct analytical tests unique to CPVC.
-Interact collaboratively and cooperatively with internal groups to characterize and quantify and competitive high temperature thermoplastic resins.
-Characterize the thermal, structural, and chemical properties of CPVC resin.
-Cooperate with the product development scientists and engineers in order to recommend appropriate resins applicable to the processing and end-use performance criteria.
-Document and communicate project progress via our company's project tracking system, periodic reports/presentations other established project tracking methods. Communicate the achievements, challenges and delays of all projects.
-Develop technical literature comparing CVPC to other polymer resins for internal use.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Engineering (chemical or polymer) from an accredited college/university.
-Minimum 5 years of industrial R&D experience developing new technologies from the laboratory scale to the pilot scale in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
-Experience in characterizing polymer structure.
-Excellent computer and statistical data analysis skills.
-A self-starter and leader with high drive and initiative.
-Experience in polyvinyl chloride polymerization and characterization for commercial products.
-Experience in chlorination chemistry.
