API Programmer Analyst

Position Description

We are looking for an API Programmer Analyst who will work with Point of Sale (POS) and Property Management System (PMS) vendors and partners and help them leverage Shift4 systems. The successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate with POS/PMS vendors to analyze electronic payments and certify that their systems maintain compliance with Shift4’s API, industry, and government regulations. The candidate must be self-motivated and take initiative to deliver exceptional results.

Essential Functions

  • Communicate with POS/PMS vendors to assist them with integrating to the Shift4 API
  • Create and modify test scripts for the purpose of analyzing electronic payment applications
  • Analyze test scripts for errors and report results back to POS/PMS vendors
  • Participate in conference calls to explain the intricacies of the Shift4 API to potential clients
  • Test software in relation to the API when modifications are made
  • Assist with other software testing as needed  
  • Follow up with customers consistently and thoroughly

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have knowledge of the following programming languages: SQL, Dynamic HTML, and ASP.Net
  • Experience with testing code, software quality assurance, C++, Java, and/or Delphi are a plus
  • Ability to analyze information and solve problems quickly and effectively
  • Exceptional written and communication skills
  • Ability to understand technology and identify opportunities
  • Must be flexible to a changing environment, acknowledging urgency when necessary
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in confidential matters
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Must remain organized at all times

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in a related field is preferred, two to four years of progressively responsible experience in related fields; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Previous experience in MIS or programming required
  • Experience in the technical or payments industry preferred
