Registration and processing of all patients/families requesting health care services, social services, and counseling. Conduct and record appropriately patient registration information, billings, and data summaries relevant to the agency’s annual UDS reports. Demonstrate ability to function at all HCH sites.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Demonstrate proficiency in looking up accounts in the HealthPro system using name, alias, family members, SSN, and account numbers.
B. Demonstrate proficiency in entering charges for self-pay, insurance info, and eligibility programs. Reconcile charges and payments at the end of each day.
C. Assist patients and visitors that walk into the clinic. Answer telephones identifying self and name of clinic.
D. Demonstrate ability to schedule patient appointments according to established protocols for medical, dental or social.
E. Maintain high level productivity rate. Collect and secure all encounters, charts at end of day and secure according to Protocols.
F. Perform intake interview on all new patients using a standard registration form and confirm homelessness. Review and update household's financial and demographic information annually.
G. Assemble, and keep up-to-date necessary medical record forms for specific patient categories and initiate Encounter Form with subsequent dissemination of it.
H. Follow-up on no-shows as directed by provider.
I. Assist clinical teams in patient assessment via observation and notify clinician in the event of an emergency.
J. Abide by policies and procedures dictated in the Employee Safety Handbook.
K. Participate in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program.
L. Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent; two years of college or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum of one year experience working in a health care setting; experience in bookkeeping or accounting preferred.
Some computer knowledge and use of calculator.
Strong clerical skills to include keyboarding and a good understanding of basic math.
Must possess mental ability to conduct financial interviews with a better-than-average attention to detail.
Bilingual/Bicultural (preferred). English/Spanish
