Responsible for organizing and administering inventory management and purchasing activities to assure proper inventory levels are maintained in compliance with Division profitability and service level objectives
Skills, Know How and Experience
Purchases inventory for the Division, including: supplier relationship management, reorder levels, pricing & scheduling deliveries.
Assists in the development of suppliers and their capabilities to support the Division sales building programs.
Supports the EPD product line development.
Assists in the quality control criteria for TPC products.
Produces supplier rating reports for review.
Produces various Excel worksheets for inventory and pricing strategies.
Maintains pricing books/files.
Maintain high customer service levels (OTIF) while keeping inventory levels at objectives determined by upper management.
Maintaining the relationships with numerous suppliers for a variety of products.
Working with Engineering Department and developing component suppliers for EPD items.
Working closely with Purchasing Manager to assure all orders are made to the most recent specifications and that all quality criteria are met.
Producing accurate supplier rating reports with changing customer demands.
Maintain the confidentiality of suppliers.
3-5 years purchasing experience
CPIM Certified a plus.
Good understanding of the Division’s inventory and service objectives.
Excellent communications skills with: suppliers, customers, other departments within the Division.
Requires a high degree of accuracy.
Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Ability to treat suppliers, customers and employees with tack and respect in difficult situations while being persistent.
Good understanding of Macola and other operating software.
This position has no direct reports and reports to Purchasing Manager.
The position has to balance two conflicting goals at all times, the need to maintain high service levels to our customers vs. the need to keep inventory levels at a minimum.
On a daily basis, the position will deal with many departments within the Division as well as suppliers and sales people in order to function properly.
The financial goals set by the Division are influence significantly by the performance of this position. The profitability of the Division is greatly affected by having the right product on the shelf and being able to buy and sell it at such levels in order to generate proper margins.
The effectiveness of the position can be measured by the Key Indicator Reports, TPC Sales force, customers & suppliers feedback.
