About the Job

1st Choice, LLC is seeking a Career Transition Specialist/Workforce Development Specialist for an exciting opportunity with our client in Baltimore, MD.

MAJOR PURPOSE OF THIS JOB

Provides job placement services for adult participants in an employment advancement and retention program. Possesses familiarity with Federal, State, and Local Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) rules and regulations. Identifies employers willing to provide long-term employment opportunities to program participants. Responsible for developing and maintaining ongoing personal contacts with private, public, non-profit, and religious organizations to promote and create opportunities for placing TANF customers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local employers.
  • Identify employment opportunities for enrolled participants with minimal workplace skills and/or criminal backgrounds.
  • Maintain a cache of employment opportunities.
  • Escort participants to job fairs and employment opportunities.
  • Provide constructive feedback and advice to enrolled job seekers.
  • Complete weekly case notes.
  • Facilitate weekly, job readiness sessions, and classroom activities.
  • Assist program participants with development of workplace skills.
  • Provide employment verification.
  • Adhere to Federal, State, and Contractor guidelines.
  • Work with a team of professionals to ensure contract goals are achieved.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • minimum of 2 years’ experience in adult learning, workforce development, career training, sales/and or marketing or other employment related field
  • Driver’s license and transportation
  • Familiarity with sales and/or marketing techniques
