Cisco Network Engineer - Direct Hire

About the Job

Sr. Network Engineer/Sr. WAN Integrator Responsible for deployment and maintenance of enterprise data network, ensuring resiliency, performance, and security. Assist in the design and planning of the company’s network infrastructure and architecture, while developing strategies and direction for current and emerging technologies. Reviews and recommends network hardware and management software. Monitors and assesses the network for performance, capacity, and compliance and makes recommendations for improvement. Works on large-scale systems projects for expansion and integration through vendor comparison and cost studies. The candidate is typically a top-level technical contributor with advanced knowledge and experience in local and wide area networking, communications, and related hardware/software.

Duties include:
• Design, implement, and maintain LAN/WAN, ranging in size from small offices to large campuses
• Provide on-call support in rotation and act as an escalation point for the NOC
• Mentor junior engineers
• Evaluate new technologies and platforms to improve and enhance the infrastructure
• Performing off-hours network maintenance as needed

Minimum Qualifications: Education: BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

Experience:
Minimum of 6 years experience that includes network design, operational support, hands-on implementing and configuration of network devices such as routers, switches, wireless access points and bridges, dial-in access servers, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
• Expert level proficiency in Cisco routing and switching technologies, complex VPN/IPSEC configurations, and EIGRP/BGP routing protocols.
• Extensive experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting VLANs, to include intimate knowledge of Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), Inter-VLAN routing, and Quality of Service (QoS).
• Broad understanding of all types of operating systems including Windows 2K, Active Directory, NT and Linux.
• Solid understandings of wireless technology theory such as channelization, SNR, fade margin, radiation patterns, dB, and RF propagation.
• Knowledge preferred with the entire CiscoWorks suite, HP OpenView, MRTG, DNS-Bind, Websense, Cisco ACS, Unix Scripting, PHP/MySQL, Sniffer and/or Air Magnet.
• Knowledge of Fast Switched Ethernet, GigE, SONET and ATM is necessary.

Licensure/Certifications: CISCO certifications CCNP or CCDP required; CCIE a plus.
