The Design Engineer is responsible for all phases of hardware design including technical analysis of product requirements, recommendation of design alternatives, functional specifications, schematic design, PCB layout, hardware debug, hardware verification testing and release to manufacturing. Also assists other engineers/technicians as well as other departments, including production, with tasks as products progress from concept to market.

A successful candidate:

 

  • Designs and supports analog and digital circuitry for products from concept to production.
  • Basic skills and experience in embedded software design.
  • Performs and supports integration tests.
  • Supports the creation of project schedules, conducts feasibility studies and helps estimate development costs.
  • Supports software and mechanical engineers as required for product design.
  • Generates or helps generate supporting documentation for production.
  • Performs design reviews.
  • Participates in internal and external work groups.
  • Maintains detailed records and prepares communications and reports as needed.
  • Interacts professionally on a regular basis with staff, vendors and the general public.

The background you’ll need:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 5 to 10 years of related experience. 
  • A fundamental understanding of digital and analog circuit design and theories.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, embedded designs and use of intranet and internet.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret reports and business correspondence for a diverse audience.
  • Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills. 
  • Maintains a high level of energy and a consistent positive attitude.
