About the Job

Company Overview:

Lilly is the 10th largest pharmaceutical company in the world, and has been creating medicines that help improve peoples' quality of life for more than 135 years. Across the globe, we are a leader in investing in research and development and we also invest in our employees – in competitive salaries, training and development, and health.

The pharmaceutical industry is a complex, rapidly changing environment and we are looking for highly capable leaders to help us continue bringing innovation to patients.

If you are interested in being considered for employment at Lilly, we encourage you to review the following opportunity.

Mobile technology, Big Data/Analytics, and cloud computing are enabling “connected health” and driving changes of how, when, and where care is given and therapy decisions are made. Overall support of a medical condition is becoming as important as medicine itself. Smarter, more connected digital products will drive increasingly customized solutions that focus on helping patients, their caregivers, and healthcare professionals with overall therapy and lifestyle management.

Delivery Device Research and Development is responsible for the development and scale-up of new devices for late stage clinical trials and commercial distribution. DDR&D is viewing this “digital disruption” in healthcare as a tremendous opportunity to better serve our patients, and have created a Digital Devices team with internal and external capabilities in electronics, wireless connectivity, and software development (device, mobile app, and cloud). This team will also manage the development of innovative user experiences and be responsible for understanding and influencing emerging digital standards and regulations.

The Digital Devices team is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager for overseeing product development projects. Working as part of a project team, this position includes the traditional role of managing project scope, schedule, cost, and risk from proof-of-concept to launch. The project manager must also successfully coordinate device design, human factors, risk management, clinical studies, and post-launch support. By partnering with business unit Marketing and Medical, Lilly IT, Device Regulatory, Quality, and external vendors, the PM will ensure projects achieve defined milestones and endpoints. Additionally, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in an agile team having roles without boundaries operating at digital speed. You will bring core expertise and will need to teach others, but you will also build upon your strengths, learn from your teammates, and discover new skills.

  • Own and execute self-contained projects that have a key impact on a total solution.
  • Lead cross-functional activities of internal team members, other Lilly departments, and external partners.
  • Manage relationships, influence other internal and external organizations, and resolve conflicts to achieve project milestones.
  • Conduct project risk mitigation/contingency planning.
  • Manage timeline and budget for projects to achieve on-time and on-budget performance.
  • Support the team by taking on non-PM activities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree.
  • At least five years of project leadership experience in multidisciplinary, complex, technical projects with a software component.
  • At least five years working with vendors and collaborations.
  • Demonstrated schedule and budget management skills in $1MM+ projects.
  • Qualified candidate must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this position.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Technical degree: engineering or computer science preferred.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodology.
  • Understanding of human factors engineering and formal risk management tools and processes.
  • Application of international standards.
  • Capability to quickly understand current project delivery process constraints and identify streamlining opportunities in a changing regulatory environment.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills, including exceptional communication skills.

Additional Information:

  • Location is currently at Lilly Technology Center - North. US and OUS travel, usually 10-15% but up to ~25% at times.

Lilly is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, protected veteran status, disability or any other legally protected status.
