eSource Implementation Lead

About the Job

This position is responsible for providing leadership, strategic thinking, team management and expert execution in the eSource team. This position will partner with Business Technology, Data Management and other business stakeholders to ensure related activities are fulfilled, business process is developed with data integrity and process development according to defined requirements and timelines.

This role is responsible for the implementation and management of Electronic Source (eSource) related strategies throughout Pfizer Global Research and Development. The position would lead the lead projects within the eSource team, a division of Information Management, and may evolve to have direct reports.  This role will be responsible to assist in the development of process, policy and resources for enablement of eSource technologies and partnerships. The role will be required to take ownership of new and ongoing projects within the overall initiative. While engaging a variety of stakeholders and customer groups to ensure study teams are enabled to consume eSource, business processes are enabled to support eSource with consistently and with the highest quality and lowest regulatory risk. Consideration of technologies allied and parallel to the use of electronic medical record data would also be required.

This role demands the ability to lead a team and liaise with business stakeholders and technical groups to provide/review impact assessments of complex business requirements. Direct and lead business and technical changes which include the identification and improvement of processes and applications to mitigate risk and impact. Work both autonomously on assigned work items, as well as being a member of a strongly interactive team.

Skill set of potential candidates must include expertise in process development and successful history of project execution and delivery, as well as the following areas:

  • Lead strategic eSource initiatives
  • Drive initiatives to standardize elements of eSource across Pfizer’s vendor panel
  • Research allied technologies, vendor services to develop and form a future vision of patient-based technology and eSource usage within Pfizer.
  • Interact as directed with Business/Research Units to identify specific needs for eSource support.
  • Engage external resources as required to develop group eSource knowledge.
  • Provide solutions to complex operations’ issues and communicate these solutions in an influential manner to relevant stakeholders resulting in appropriate decisions
  • Lead and Maintain a collaborative program of continuous improvement within the organization
  • Lead and Contribute as appropriate to overall training program and collaborate with business
  • Participate in development of solution test strategies and author/execute user acceptance testing during system releases to ensure high quality of systems
  • Participate in and lead quality oriented projects intended to ensure high quality data in our regulatory tracking systems

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in a scientific, technology and/or business discipline, with 10-15 years of working experience with a BSc/BS/BA degree
  • Experience working with an industry leading EHR tool (for example Cerner/Epic)
  • History of successfully leading a high performing team
  • Prior clinical technology experience is a plus.
  • Strong project planning and project management skills.
  • Ability to understand abstract clinical strategy, draw conclusions of their potential impact upon patient-based technologies, e-Source and explore tactical approaches to solving issues in cooperation with study teams and team members
  • Expert understanding of computer systems lifecycles, as well as the clinical trial process
  • Expert level understanding of health system landscapes as a concept
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the functions and roles within Clinical R&D
  • Ability to manage multiple contacts and relationships at various levels throughout the organization
  • Strong familiarity with business process re-engineering and implementation planning is desirable
  • Team player with good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to self-motivate on assigned sub-projects as required.
  • Talent for training/presentation also desired
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently and willing to provide original thinking
  • Adaptable and able to work with study teams with disparate levels of technical experience
  • Thorough understanding of current technology and how it could be used to facilitate growth toward overall corporate goals
  • Ability to keep abreast of current regulatory and technical trends and how these trends would impact patient technology and eSource implementation within a large sponsor organization
