Mechanical Design Engineer III - Summary of Position:

Work involving considerable independence in approach, degree of originality, ingenuity, and judgment.  Possess knowledge of more than one field or expertise, and may be considered the technical reference authority within the organization.


The engineer:


  • initiates or participates in short-range or long-range planning and makes independent decisions on engineering policies and procedures within an overall program
  • gives technical advice to management and operating departments
  • may take detailed technical responsibility for product development and provision of specialized engineering systems, facilities and functions
  • coordinates work programs


The engineer decides courses of action necessary to ensure the successful accomplishment of assigned projects, and may make recommendations involving large sums or long-range objectives.


Duties are assigned only in terms of broad objectives and are reviewed for policy, soundness of approach, accomplishment and general effectiveness. The professional engineer may supervises a group, including other engineers and technical staff.


Duties and Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

Manage large projects from start to finish

Design and optimization of mechanical components for waterjet and other CNC systems

Analysis of mechanical systems for structural fatigue, thermal and vibration

Interface with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing and assembly

Development of manufacturing drawings

Construct and oversee assembly of developing systems

Drafting

Programming of CNC equipment

Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Proficient in 3D CAD modeling - SolidWorks preferred

Excellent problem solving and time management skills

Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge

Self-motivated and organized

Able to design both individually and with a group

Good verbal and written communication skills

Good teamwork skills

 

Other Requirements:

4-10 years’ experience, in applicable field

Regular attendance is required. The employee is required physically to be at the WARDJet facility during their scheduled

work hours unless approved otherwise by supervisor

A valid driver’s license

Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds

Able to sit for long periods of time

Able to use the computer for long periods of time

Able to stand for long periods of time

Sufficient mobility to perform job successfully

Able and willing to work overtime with little to no forewarning

Able to obtain a valid passport

Able to rent a car

Travel is possible (about 15% of the job may involve travel)
