Events Manager

Summary


The Events Manager owns and implements all aspects of internal and external event strategy, planning, and execution. This position entails more than just event logistics. It
is hands-on and requires a high level of initiative and productivity while managing numerous events simultaneously. You must have the ability to think strategically. You must be able to collaborate with executive management, internal departments, and outside vendors to successfully strategize and plan an event, determine its theme and messaging, secure attendance, and more.

 

A successful candidate for this position is marketing savvy, organized, extremely professional and dependable, possesses incredible attention to detail, and is able to meet strict deadlines.

 

Essential Functions

  • Identify the correct events to host, attend, and/or sponsor by researching, obtaining statistics, and collaborating with executive management and other departments
  • Outline the goals and objectives of each event including how to increase booth traffic, lead generation, etc.
  • Plan various employee-focused events such as company picnics, holiday parties, and management retreats
  • Coordinate quarterly offsite company meetings
  • Create and maintain event profiles, checklists, itineraries, wrap-up forms
  • Devise, document, and maintain policies and procedures as they pertain to events
  • Collect and maintain event details for reporting, ROI analysis, and future event selection
  • Negotiate with outside vendors
  • Complete all event logistics (food/beverage, booth, printed materials, shipping, utilities, etc.)
  • Create and submit business cases, purchase orders, invoices, etc., for events as instructed by company policy
  • Send frequent and thorough updates on the progress of every event, ensuring that all involved parties have the information they need
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for events as necessary
  • Understand Shift4’s products, services, and sales cycle and relate that information to events
  • Travel to events for onsite management as requested
  • Advise administrative staff in the selection and amount of event giveaway items

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think and plan strategically and present those plans to management
  • Proven event planning skills
  • Be articulate, communicative, and professional
  • Remain organized at all times
  • Independently analyze information and solve problems
  • Be flexible to a changing environment, acknowledging urgency when necessary
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in confidential matters
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Education and Experience

  • B.A. in marketing or a related field is desired
  • Event planning experience in a corporate setting, preferably in B2B environment
