About the Job

At Fresh Ideas we are passionate about bringing our clients unique flavors and cuisines using the freshest ingredients to accentuate our diverse menus. Fresh Ideas operates throughout Missouri and northern Arkansas, with concentrations in Saint Louis, Kansas City, and central Missouri. We are always seeking  top chefs willing to relocate if necessary.

Our chefs must possess a strong work ethic, drive to succeed, effective management skills and a passion for culinary excellence. Our Executive Chefs plays a crucial role, overseeing all culinary aspects of the operation in conjunction with the Food Service Director. Ideal candidates have significant experience in the college and university food service segment. Experience is a must.

REQUIREMENTS

·        Associate’s degree or Chef’s Certificate from accredited culinary school or association; plus a minimum of three years’ experience at the Sous Chef level or higher within a fast-paced environment

·        Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills

·        Proven ability to effectively manage, train, supervise and grow employees

·        Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high quality food operation and to make sound decisions under pressure

·        Volume catering experience

·        Experience with menu development, planning and preparation

·        Must have a solid working knowledge of food production, presentation, recipe development, cultural cuisines, vegetarian and vegan cuisines, and be keenly aware of new trends and directions in the food service industry

·        Should have an in-depth knowledge regarding food and specialty dishes

·        Ability to meet culinary financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing annual budget; designing menus; tracking inventory; placing orders, and analyzing variances

·        Desire to develop culinary team members through appropriate coaching, training, mentoring, communicating job expectations and enforcing company policies and procedures

·        Establishes and maintains effective client and resident relations

·        Must promote a positive work environment and be committed to achieving excellence in a team setting
