Pepco Energy Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) is a rapidly growing provider of energy saving solutions such as, Energy Performance Contracting, Thermal Energy Solutions, Electricity Generation and Renewable Energy. We partner with the federal governments to provide performance-based energy solutions that help clients reduce their costs, improve their infrastructure, and achieve their energy goals. We are looking for an experienced Manager of Federal Business Development to join our team. This person will be responsible for executing federal sales for Pepco Energy Services’ on a national level within DOD and civilian agencies using several federal contracting vehicles available to Pepco Energy Services.
In this person, the person can be located anywhere in the US. Must be able to travel.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop call plans, perform sales calls and face-to-face meetings, and secure contracts for services within the DOD (Army, Air Force, Navy) and other federal civilian agencies.
Maintain relationships and favorable contacts with current and potential customers to execute sales.
Target potential customers, qualify and initiate contact, and develop relationships and sales pipeling in order to acquire new accounts in support of Federal ESPC and UESC, Energy Efficiency and Renewable opportunities.
Identify and execute capture and pricing strategies to secure customers in targeted markets.
Interface with project managers, engineers, and executive management to develop, write, and finalize competitive proposals. Coordinate with other sales team members as necessary in support of federal sales team goals.
Maintain and update customer contact information, proposals, sales records, and forecasts via Salesforce.com.
Work with engineering, other sales and marketing and operational personnel to develop winning responses to customer RFI’s and RFP’s and in negotiating and winning contracts.
Determine and assess a customer’s needs, provide solutions, negotiate deals, in order to close multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts (Long-lead sales cycle management)
Advise management of pending issues or problems as they arise for resolution.
Develop project pricing strategies in conjunction with upper management and assist in contact development and negotiations
Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience
5+yrs sales and marketing experience developing and selling performance based technical, engineering, and/or energy services into the Federal Market. Demonstrated experience and proficiency of less than 5 years may be accepted at the discretion of the hiring manager.
Business acumen sufficient to understand paybacks, return on investment, and project financing.
Demonstrated ability to consistently meet and/or exceed established sales goals and/or quotas.
Exceptional interpersonal skills demonstrating professionalism, self-confidence, drive, and commitment with the ability to interact appropriately at all levels (including C-Level) within the federal government.
Above average writing skills with the ability to properly format, develop and write sales proposals in addition to Presentation skills; must be proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Outstanding oral presentation skills.
Available to travel as necessary by car, air, train, and/or public transportation. Required travel each month may be in excess of 50%.
