Finance Specialist/Hedge Fund
Description:
The ideal candidate for this position has outstanding quantitative skills and is highly capable of independent analysis. The focus will be to partner with the senior management team to assess organizational and operational performance against assets under management, investment strategy, industry trends, internal budgets and the company’s long-term strategy. He or she must have the ability to take ownership of and responsibility for specific projects, and is able to effectively prioritize job responsibilities in order to reach conclusions and deliver solutions to meet company strategy.
Responsibilities:
Strategy
o Development of risk management models involving market risk, investment risk and operational risk.
o Develop and enhance quantitative approach and risk models to assess risk exposure at the position and portfolio level as well as portfolio P&L back-testing for the VaR model.
o Evaluate actual and potential strategies to hedge exposure to various risk factors as well as specific industry, sector, strategy, or economic factors.
o Review analytic internal risk and fund performance analysis.
o Help prepare portfolio managers with specific talking points, issues and/or risk questions/views in advance of investor meetings/calls.
o Brief senior management on historical, current and future risks.
o Prepare written quantitative and qualitative risk due diligence reports.
o Automate and prepare periodic (monthly/quarterly) quantitative risk reports.
Financial Planning
o Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the portfolio managers and senior management team and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
o Lead discussions around industry issues, trends, and changes in operating requirements.
o Assist in maintaining relationships with current investors, potential investors, prime brokers, brokers, auditors and legal counsel.
Accounting Activities
o Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with company internal growth strategy.
o Oversee nightly fund performance reporting.
o Preparation of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements for investors and fund.
o Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, corporate/overhead cost allocation.
o Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.
o Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits.
o Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
Requirements:
o A minimum of a BS; a CPA and/or MBA would be a plus.
o Degrees in finance, economics, computer science, statistics, physics, or mathematics are ideal, but more important than the actual field is a strong facility with quantitative methods and native problem-solving ability.
o Must have experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with senior executive team, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
