Job Title:Financial Accountant

Department:Accounting

Reports to:Corporate Controller/Plant Controller

FLSA Status:Exempt

Location:Artesia

 

Job Summary

The Financial Accountant will be working with all CDI locations to support financial decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data with focus on receivables, general ledger, and inventory valuations.

 

Essential Functions  List of significant/essential duties, tasks, and/or responsibilities required of this position.

 

  • Post daily cash receipts/receivables/sales activities.
  • Prepare monthly reports by collecting industry specific data; summarizes data, information, and trends.
  • Analyze industry specific transactions and balances related general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare special reports by studying variances on general ledger accounts as assigned. Example: Monthly utility billing company-wide.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as required.
  • Will be trained as backup person to value and analyze monthly supply inventories for each CDI location. This includes updating a monthly spreadsheet with the inventory counts and also the purchases and usage of each inventoried supply item.

a)         Review all incoming supply invoices and keep copies for backup.

b)         Prepare monthly journal entries to record the changes in supply inventories for each location.

c)          Analyze the monthly supply expense accounts for each CDI location, and resolve any discrepancies by communicating with the different offices regarding unexplained variances.

d)         Prepare monthly journal entries to record the changes in supply inventories for each location.

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Finance and accounting experience.

 

 

Education and/or Experience

A BS degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.  Minimum of two years related accounting experience required.

  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Basic computational skills required.
  • Proficientmath skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and other MS products is essential.
  • Excellent organizational and follow through skills.
  • College-level verbal and written communication skills.  Must be able to communicate with upper management on a daily basis.

 

 

Language Skills

English is required as the spoken language.  A well-modulated tonal volume is required with excellent diction skills needed.  This job requires frequent communication with personnel in other CDI locations, including office personnel and warehouse personnel, regarding supply inventories. The Financial Accountant must be able to communicate effectively and concisely any issues relating to the supply inventories. 

 

 

Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.  Must have the ability to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.

 

  • The Financial Accountant must be able to analyze monthly variances and obtain explanations for each variance, i.e., logical thinking.
  • The monthly variance analysis must be done on a timely basis to ensure timely monthly financial reporting (the Financial Accountant will have to follow up on pending issues to make sure all variances are explained prior to month end closing).
