We are currently seeking a Fire Protection Designer to work in Harrisburg, PA.  The Fire Protection Designer will coordinate with mechanical, electrical and plumbing designers to identify potential property risks and design safeguards including alarm, sprinkler and smoke control systems.  The candidate will participate, as a member of the project team, in all aspects of project development including site survey, design development, system selection and contract documentation. The candidate will apply his/her knowledge of engineering principles and best practices. Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the preparation of construction documents and specifications
  • Participate in the development of construction documents to insure compliance with design intent
  • Consult with the Senior Designer, Project Engineer, or Project Manager to establish project goals and objectives
  • Research products and systems that accomplish the design intent
  • Coordinate with other disciplines including architects
  • Apply Engineering knowledge to prepare and assist project teams with putting together working drawings, design development and construction document packages utilizing best Revit MEP practices
  • Setup new project work in Revit MEP
  • Contribute to documentation and update of standards and best practices
  • Contribute to the organization, creation, maintenance and upgrades of templates and libraries
  • High level of proficiency in the use of AutoCAD© MEP software for HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection drafting and design, experience in Electrical drafting and design preferred;
  • Experience in the use of REVIT© MEP software for HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection design;
  • Able to prepare plans, riser diagrams, one-lines, details and schedules for HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection designs;
  • Familiar with applicable building and design codes including 2012 and earlier IBC codes, ASHRAE Standards and good engineering practices;
  • Familiar with Microsoft© Office© software packages;
  • Able to function in a team environment and to work independently when required;
  • Able to create standards for AutoCAD and REVIT when required;
  • Able to organize and maintain project files;
  • Able to communicate effectively in orally and in writing.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associates or technical degree in CAD/Revit preferred
  • At least 2 years’ of CAD/Revit experience
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP / AutoCAD MEP/AutoCAD 2012 or newer
