Full Service Restaurant General Manager Needed for Restaurant Growth

About the Job

Position Summary: The priority of a general manager is to execute superior quality of restaurant operations that give each guest an excellent dining experience. The
GM is the teacher and role model to everyone in the restaurant, providing a clear
sense of direction and a uniform set of expectations that mold every staff member
into a cohesive team that create great guest experiences. The GM produces such a
team by providing leadership and standards that are uncompromising. The GM must
believe in the personal growth of every staff member and then provide the
atmosphere, tools and motivation to achieve that growth. The GM must also
demonstrate the ability to build the business for long term results.
Sales growth and increase guest counts are two critical factors to growing a
business for the long term. The GM must be capable of meeting the restaurant’s
objectives for profits, both in the short and long term. He must be well organized,have the proper systems in place and must take proactive interest in all areas of
the restaurant. The GM must envision where the restaurant will be next week, next
month, next quarter and next year. The decisions made today will help ensure
tomorrow’s success.
 Provide clear expectations to the management team through weekly directional
 Set professional development goals with each manager on a weekly, monthly and
quarterly basis.
 Train managers to operate shift at or above standards
 Hires and conducts orientation and training of personnel to meet responsibilities of their jobs.
 Implements promotion programs and develops promotions for the staff.
 Collaborates in development of training procedures, employee manual, employee
reviews and disciplinary procedures.
 Responsible for all job reference checks. In addition, must be present for new
hires first shift so that the appropriate paper work and initial facility walk
through can take place.
 Performs periodic oral and written skill reviews with all employees
 Communicate at all levels and is always accessible to employees
 Treats all employees with respect and consistency
 Evaluates each manager on a quarterly basis
 Evaluates each employee on a semi-annual basis
 Execute shift management at or above standard
 Conducts periodic meetings with management and staff - wine seminars, tastings,
 Ensures equipment in the restaurant is maintained and is aware of all maintenance contracts.
 Executes all standards and procedures for food handling, storing and labeling
 Execute all food and beverage items according to recipes
 Staffs restaurant to labor scheduling guidelines
 Inspects dining room, food receiving, preparation, production and storage areas
to ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to.
 Maintains excellent relationship with local health and sanitation officials,
resolving any issues in a timely manner.
 Operates restaurant in a manner that displays an uncompromising attitude toward
guest satisfaction.
