Manager, Dental Clinic
The Dental Clinic Manager is responsible for planning and management of dental clinic’s daily operations. Accountable for coordinating, assigning, and scheduling tasks for staff; team building; and maintaining working relationships with all functional areas, staff, students, faculty, patients, outside departments, and vendors. Develops annual budgets, tracks expenses, and performs monthly variance analysis. Accountable for practice growth; staff, patient, and faculty satisfaction; physical plant; and inventory. Responsible for front-end revenue cycle, payment at time of service collections, and cash controls. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and implements best practices throughout the operations and revenue cycle consistent with institutional policy and procedures. Proficient with systems used. Provides problem solving and communication with staff and department on all matters pertaining to clinic operations. Develops solutions for patient, student, and faculty concerns, and provides recommendations for improvement in operational, revenue, financial, systems, and/or regulatory capacity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluates staffing needs; conducts annual performance appraisals, development and training; takes disciplinary actions. Monitors purchases/expenditures; oversees practice flow; develops financial projections; creates business plans; performs monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting; analyzes data. Ensures staff meets regulatory requirements; payroll functions; assures appropriate coverage; manages practice schedule and operations and chair allocations; ensures equipment is adequately maintained; reviews departmental processes and procedures; performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health sciences administration, or a related field, plus minimum four years’ related experience.
Requires strong management, organizational, analytical, data analysis skills. Strong communication (written and verbal). Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred.
Axium Dental software experience, knowledge of electronic dental billing systems for front-end and back-end functions. Familiar with dental insurance billing, collections, and eligibility for managed care, government, and self-pay reimbursement concepts, and overall operational impact.
