Participate as a team member of the CLARiiON QA organization.
Responsible for participating in the execution of procedures for ensuring the quality and serviceability of new features and releases of software. Authors and executes test cases, using defined methodologies for manual and/or automated tests. Isolates, reproduces and tracks bugs and verifies fixes. Analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective action. Documents test results. Performs the assessment and planning of test efforts required for new functions/features under development. Influences design changes to improve quality and features testability. Consults with quality and development engineers in resolution of complex problems.
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ability to perform both manual and automated testing. The focus is on automation - general scripting using shell scripts and Perl. Should be able to read log files and understand intent of script.
• Capable of writing scripts to automate install processes and facilitate OS installation and remote testing.
• Install and configure software and hardware necessary for testing.
• Create and follow detailed and complex test plans and/or test procedures.
• Analyzes failure reports and makes recommendations to improve existing quality assurance processes.
• Create and follow schedules for test plans and procedures.
• Test with a high degree of reliability and efficiency.
• Able to identify complex problems and pursue to resolution.
• Review customer documentation and verify release media.
• Take on additional special tasks in parallel with regular work.
• Participate in “advance QA work” – design reviews, new product definitions, etc.
• Help team members to meet team goals.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Lead a small team with specific assignments.
 
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
• BS degree in related discipline and 3-6 years QA experience.
• System level hardware and software knowledge.
• Working knowledge of one or more of the following platforms: Windows 2003 Windows 2008, Hyper-V, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, HP HP-UX, VMware, Red Hat, SuSE, or AsianUX Linux.
• Knowledge of Storage systems and RAID technology.
• Knowledge of Fibre Channel, SCSI, iSCSI protocols a plus.
• Broad QA knowledge including processes and methodologies.
• Good verbal and written skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and closely with other departments – Engineering, Development, Product Support, Marketing, Release.
• Good debug skills.
• UNIX or Windows scripting skills; Perl is a strong plus.
• Work independently.
