The Company seeks an attorney with 6 years of legal practice experience with a focus on global labor and employment law matters. This position requires a strong lawyer with appropriate skills to engender confidence among both corporate and operating company leadership and clients. This attorney will serve as a key advisor to the Human Resources function as well as other business functions. The successful candidate must be able to operate autonomously and comfortably in the face of complexity and ambiguity within a fast-paced, quickly evolving environment. The candidate must be intellectually astute, analytically precise, have a strong bias for pragmatism and possess a broad range of experiences.
+ Provide high-quality legal advice and counsel in a timely fashion to legal team members, the Human Resources department, and business partners on the full spectrum of labor and employment matters pertaining to a publicly traded global enterprise, including but not limited to compliance matters, litigation, EEO matters, benefits, restrictive covenants, immigration, OFCCP and affirmative action, diversity and inclusion, M&A, whistleblower claims under SOX and Dodd-Frank, global mobility, employee representative structures and obligations, investigations, etc.
+ Provide leadership, advice, and creative solutions regarding the Company’s compliance with the myriad of domestic and international, federal, state, and local laws that govern the employment relationship and the workplace.
+ Develop an understanding of the Company’s various operating entities and ongoing related legal issues in order to provide meaningful legal support while proactively identifying and mitigating legal risks.
+ Manage employment and labor litigation matters, including the development and execution of effective litigation management (including discovery) and settlement strategies. Assist in the negotiation and resolution of pre-litigation employment related disputes.
+ Maintain a culture with a high degree of emphasis on integrity, respect, and inclusion.
+ Work effectively with and manage outside counsel and report effectively on matters to the Vice President, Labor & Employment and Litigation.
+ Develop and devise best practices, tools, guidelines, programs, and solutions that can be efficiently implemented across multiple operating companies.
+ Develop, prepare, and deliver training and educational materials as to labor and employment legal matters such as compliance with various regulations in the US and internationally, and conduct training for the Human Resources Department.
+ Provide the Human Resources organization with legal advice in connection with compensation and benefits programs, as well as provide legal advice regarding various executive compensation matters.
+ Provide support on legal aspects of collective bargaining negotiations, advise on unfair labor practices charges, and advise on grievance and arbitration matters related to traditional labor unions.
+ Provide support regarding employee representative structures, union awareness activities and positive employee relations.
+ A Juris Doctor degree from a nationally recognized law school with excellent academic credentials in law school and in undergraduate studies.
+ Member in good standing of any U.S. state bar with an ability to obtain in-house practice license in Washington State.
+ A minimum of 6 years of legal practice experience focused on general labor and employment counseling and litigation.
