Green Mountain RSVP Volunteer Coordinator

There  is one job opening for this position in  the following counties: Windsor .

Position Function:  The Windsor County Green Mountain Retired Senior Volunteer Program (GMRSVP) Coordinator shall be responsible for upholding the policies and procedures established by the National Senior Service Corporation, the federal agency responsible for RSVP projects, and the sponsoring agency, Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging. Coordinators will also be responsible for the recruitment, placement and follow-up of volunteers to fulfill the sponsoring agency’s work plans and performance-based outcomes as well as responding to requests for volunteer services within other non-profit organizations/volunteer stations

Essential Functions Include:

Windsor County GMRSVP Coordinator:

·         Recruit and place volunteers in mutually agreed upon assignments at non-profit organizations/volunteer stations based on the matching interests and skill set of the volunteer that meet the requirements of the grantee’s priority focus areas

·         Meet performance-based outcomes as identified in grantee’s work plans

·         Grow annually the volunteer base within Windsor County with a minimum 10% increase in volunteers related to grantee’s work plans and priority focus areas

·         Maintain complete and accurate records and reports, and submit documentation monthly as requested by the GMRSVP Director

·         Complete weekly activity logs for the GMRSVP Director and attend monthly staff meetings

·         Maintain up-to-date, accurate data in the GMRSVP database on all volunteers, volunteer stations and volunteer opportunities/activities

·         Provide orientation and training of volunteers and volunteer stations

·         Provide at least one volunteer recognition/appreciation event annually

·         Maintain relationships and supervise volunteers through personal contact. Act as advocate for volunteers as necessary to meet their needs and solve problems

·         Develop new opportunities and maintain relationships with volunteer stations through personal contact and recruitment practices

·         Actively participate in fundraising initiatives as approved by the GMRSVP Director

·         Attend community meetings and trainings as approved by the GMRSVP Director

·         Actively participate in GMRSVP public relations and community outreach efforts as outlined and approved by the GMRSVP Director, including but not limited to, press releases, radio, television and other public speaking venues

·         Assist other GMRSVP colleagues with general program functions, as necessary

·         Complete other duties as assigned by the GMRSVP Director

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Bachelor’s degree preferred in social work, gerontology, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience

·         Ability to maintain client confidentiality

·         Knowledge of issues related to elder populations and communities while maintaining volunteer/volunteer station direction and confidentiality

·         Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage a large volunteer base in Windsor County

·         Ability to establish partnerships and work cooperatively with a wide variety of people and organizations, independently and as part of a team

·         Ability to learn specific GMRSVP databases

·         Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office and other software programs

·         Excellent written, oral, listening and communication skills

·         Highly organized, attention to detail, multi-tasker, problem solver

·         Access to reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the Windsor County area
