The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a HWIL Facility System Administrator/Information System Manager.
Plan, develop, install, maintain and upgrade the computing/network infrastructure and associated security requirements for multiple closed area complex HWIL facilities. Tasks include COTS computer and software installation and maintenance, specialized software development, custom computer and custom interface development, compliance with INFOSEC policies up to and including TS/SCIF operation.
Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):
Facility Manager - Provide information systems security management for closed area HWIL facilities to include development of CONOPS, SSPs, and associated security plans and documentation, capital plans, and computing infrastructure and network plans. Execute security audits and associated system administrator actions in accordance with security policies. Conduct system security network analyses and other related taking. (50%)
Develop custom software based drivers, custom computer interfaces, custom computing equipment, networks and architectures to interface missile HW with missile HW emulations, wrap-around simulations, and special test equipment/analysis tools. (20%)
Plan, install and maintain computing systems, operating systems, software, and networks within closed area HWIL facilities. Manage windows and other network servers. (20%)
BSEE, BSCS or equivalent experience. Minimum two years experience managing secured hardware-based computer facilities comprised of custom designed support equipment and complex computing systems. Ability to troubleshoot complex problems in computer networks, computer hardware, and computer operating systems with specific expertise in UNIX (Solaris, FrBSD, IRIX), Linux Red Hat (standard and real-time), VxWorks, Windows, Mac OSX. COMSEC experience, STE/STU, NES, etc. Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively across labs, and multi-task effectively. Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Experience in writing software based drivers and in developing custom computer interface cards to marry customer HW to simulations and emulations in support of a HWIL type facility.
