What Software Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health
Software Engineering is responsible for designing, developing, implementing and supporting applications, systems and IT products required to achieve the company's business objectives.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of software development techniques and fluency in software languages and application programming interfaces.

  • Demonstrates general understanding of hardware/software platforms including but not limited to operating systems, databases, application servers, web servers and integration technologies.

  • Plans and executes system implementations that ensure success and minimize risk of system outages or other negative production impacts.

  • Demonstrates conceptual knowledge of architecture standards and  database and operating systems.

  • Demonstrates problem solving ability that allows for effective and timely resolution of system issues including but not limited to production outages.

  • Analyzes production system operations using tools such as monitoring, capacity analysis and outage root cause analysis to identify and drive change that ensures continuous improvement in system stability and performance.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of software development, life cycle, modeling of business processes, application design patterns, business/functional documents. Estimates to high level business requirements and provide options analysis.

Accountabilities in this role


  • This is position is for our Web Development Manager who will be responsible for enhancing and developing new functions and features for our two production websites, Edgepark.com and Indemed.com.

  • Works cooperatively with AssuraMed’s eCommerce team to develop strategic and tactical plans to facilitate and coordinate the delivery of Web features. Coordinates, develops, and implements project plans to deliver these features. Maintains open communication with other technology teams and planning committees to assure efficient processes are implemented and to coordinate projects with overlapping responsibilities.

  • Provides direction, leadership, and coordination for web development project staff outside of IT. Also coordinates efforts with database administrators, network infrastructure personnel, Systems Development, IT Client Support, Helpdesk, and Training team when necessary.

  • Develops and manages web development and support procedures, tools, and documentation. This includes writing scope documents, managing  and developing source code, and developing technical support standards and procedures.

  • Participates in all phases of projects including planning, development, design, testing and production.

  • Must have good Java development skills, knowledge and experience, preferably in the area of web development.

  • Must have some web development knowledge and experience.

  • Experience in Hybris and ColdFusion is a plus.


 


 


Qualifications



    • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience

    • 8+ years experience in related field preferred

    • Excellent Java development skills preferably in the area of web development.

    • Must have some web development knowledge and experience.

    • Ability to define work processes and lead team members in successful implementation and ongoing execution preferred

    • Ability to develop individuals and teams preferred

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills preferred

    • Excellent organizational skills preferred
    • Strong
      software development background with good Java skills. 5 years of development
      experience. 

    • Understands
      software development process and life-cycle and is capable of implementing
      within his/her team.

    • Some
      knowledge of SQL databases – at a minimum has interfaced with them for web
      back-end integration.

    • Understanding
      of latest web technology trends. e-Commerce background is a plus.

    • Minimum
      of 2 years leadership/management experience.
