MANAGER, SPECIAL EVENTS

About the Job

 

The Viscardi Center is a Long Island-based, non-profit organization that provides a lifespan of services that educate, employ, and empower children and adults with disabilities.

The Manager of Special Events is a newly created management position responsible for:

·         Achieving special event fundraising goals through the overall planning and execution of special events. These events include, but are not limited to, Celebrity Sports Night, the Reach for a Star Luncheon, and the Golf Outing

·         Creating new ideas and target audiences for special events to keep them fresh and engaging

·         Managing the implementation of the calendar of events, monitoring progress of activity, planning and handling logistics for Committee meetings and correspondence, working with vendors, negotiating contracts and other duties as necessary for these events

·         Drafting correspondence and coordinating appropriate solicitation mailings to donors, corporate event sponsors, event leaders, committees, in-kind donors, etc.;

·         Developing event-related print materials, e.g., invitations, programs, journals, etc. in coordination with the Director of Development and External Relations

·         Providing event status updates to President and other Executive Staff as needed

·         Assisting with other Development Department duties as needed

 

The ideal candidate will have:

·         A Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three years of leadership experience in planning and event coordination

·         Large-scale event experience preferred – hosting events for 100 - 500+ guests

·         Excellent management and interpersonal skills, must effectively interact with team members and volunteers at all levels

·         Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and listening with the ability to represent the organization in a professional manner

·         Ability to multitask and work on multiple events simultaneously

·         Ability to work some evenings and weekends
