Job Description

Altex is developing innovative, high performance heat exchangers and energy systems, which will be deployed in vehicles and power systems that are subject to real-world conditions, including shock, vibration, and environmental hazards. Positions are open for dynamic candidates with experience in heat exchangers and small chemical reactors, particularly as related to thermal, energy and power systems development, demonstration and manufacturing.  Candidates will be part of the Altex engineering team, responsible for the analysis, design, development, fabrication and testing of prototype systems, which will ultimately lead to commercialization of these innovative solutions.  The positions require a BS, MS or Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Position and responsibilities will be based on the capability of the candidate.


Job Functions


The candidate who shows superior capabilities in some or all of the below job functions will be considered:


  • Designing prototype and preproduction heat exchangers and thermal systems
  • Performing heat, mass and flow analysis, for design and interpretation purposes
  • Solid modeling, FEA, fluid dynamics, and thermal analysis, using SolidWorks
  • Procuring system and test set up components, interacting with inside and outside resources
  • Analyzing performance, and refining component designs, using computerized tools
  • Producing reports, test procedures, results and data analysis
  • Assisting in formulating business plans and preparing proposals
  • Assisting in the commercialization of Altex developed technologies


Relevant Experience/Requirements


  • Bachelor, MS or Ph. D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Two years or more related work experience required
  • Previous experience with heat exchanger design, fuel cells, or reactors design/specification is plus
  • Methodical in design of systems and validation testing
  • Skilled in documenting activities and maintaining records
  • Ability to manage time, resources and staff
  • Ability to direct technicians
  • Good communication and team working skills
  • Comfortable working in a rapid pace environment, and handling multiple projects simultaneously
