We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Full Time Client Benefits Associate (Medical Insurance/Medicaid Biller) for our outpatient substance abuse treatment program in Brentwood, Long Island.  The Client Benefits Associates are responsible for the assignment and collection of client fees.  The schedule for this position is 12 PM to 8 PM, Monday through Friday.

The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Meet with clients to collect data and complete the financial section of the admission chart.  Based on income and insurance, assess the financial information given in conjunction with the sliding scale and assign client an appropriate fee.
  • Ability to interpret financial/insurance documents provided by the client (e.g. 1040 Tax Returns, Explanation of Benefits from an insurance carrier, sliding scale, etc.).
  • Explain to clients  what their responsibility is (e.g. self pays, co-pays and deductibles).
  • Work in billing software program.  Run appropriate accounts receivable reports and resolve issues on a daily basis.
  • Phone calls to follow up with clients to insure collection of fees.
  • Knowledge of public assistance and government sponsored health insurance programs and the ability to work with clients to assist them in obtaining such coverage, if needed.
  • Utilize basic accounting and computer skills to insure accuracy of calculated fees and collections.

This is a full time position which includes a comprehensive benefit package (medical/dental insurance, pension, life insurance, flexible spending account, tax deferred annuity, etc.). 

Minimum of High School Diploma.  Knowledge of medical billing and Federal and State governmental assistance programs.  Knowledge of Netsmart AVATAR preferred.  Schedule for this position is 12 PM to 8 PM.  Applicants must be able to work evening hours.  Bilingual Spanish required.
