Job Description

Microelectronics Process Engineer 4- Weekend Shift


Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems seeks to fill the position of Microelectronics Process Engineer in the Advanced Concepts and Technologies Division at the Advanced Technology Lab.

This requisition is intended to hire multiple people to provide weekend engineering coverage. The shift is a full time position that will cover - at a minimum - Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Microelectronics Process Engineer will be responsible for the process development and sustainment of a multi-layer magnetic thin film device in superconducting device fabrication. The individual will be responsible for: (1) equipment and unit processes utilized in running wafers through the wafer foundry, (2) ownership of equipment performance, process specification documentation, process optimization and control, and yield improvement and (3) interfacing with production, integration, yield, and maintenance groups, and with other process/equipment engineers to resolve issues, drive yield improvements, optimize process output, and improve process throughput.


Basic Qualifications:

*BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials, Chemistry, Physics or related technical discipline with 9 years of related experience (7 years with an MS or 4 years with a PhD)

*Experience in or familiarity with one or more of the following: thin film processing, deposition, etch, lithography, CMP, PVD, wet cleans, etc.

*4 years of experience in semiconductors or superconductors

*Basic understanding of electronic devices

*Failure analysis skills using analysis techniques, physical analysis, chemical

*Aptitude for technology development 

*Ability to work the weekend shift that covers - at a minimum - Friday, Saturday and Sunday


  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • * Experience with backend CMOS technology at or below the 180nm node in a manufacturing environment
    *Experience in superconductors
    *Experience with Design of Experiments and SPC
    *Multiple Process Ownership and Process Integration Knowledge
