The Prior Authorization Representative is responsible for obtaining verbal/hard copy authorizations for all insurance companies that require the authorization prior to shipment and claim payment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Calling insurance companies to ensure that the supplies ordered are approved and anauthorization or referral is given. The prior authorization representative mustensure the following:
Ensure verbal/hard copy authorizations for all insurance companies that require the authorization prior to shipment and claim payment are obtained.
The authorization number or name of the person giving the auth/referral must be entered into “Release CMN Prior”.
Authorization/referrals must be obtained and entered in “prior authorization comments”.
If an authorization/referral is not obtained prior to ship date, the patient must be notified that order is delayed. Comments pertaining to conversation must be documented in special comments and prior authorization comments. Patients must be notified of any progress or problems.
Assist in team projects when needed.
Ideal candidates for this position must be detail oriented, organized and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. On-site training is provided.
