We are currently seeking a Process Analysis & Controls Engineer to join our North America R&D team at our World Headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.
The selected candidate will provide expertise and technical leadership in the cross-functional design of glass container manufacturing systems with an emphasis on the development and analysis of complex, interdisciplinary systems. These systems range from relatively simple sub-systems to entire machines designed to melt and refine glass and to form, anneal, and inspect glass containers. In order to provide multi-disciplinary guidance to others on the team, an inherently curious and cross-functional candidate will be able to engage in many of the multiple functions of a traditional engineering team including conceptual development of mechanical and electrical systems, complex analysis using current computing tools, control systems development, and material science applications for the purpose of determining concept feasibility. The selected candidate will be involved in the development, start-up, and testing of control systems and the mechanical systems under control. Many of these systems require knowledge of the physical effects of motion on glass in the flexible state and multivariable processes. The ideal candidate has an understanding of the dynamics of rigid and flexible bodies, multivariable control system design, and application knowledge of both. Along with this understanding of the principles, the ideal candidate has the ability to mathematically model and analyze the systems in order to architect a control system and to offer guidance to other engineering disciplines. The use of numerical methods and simulation are often necessary and the ideal candidate is able to make use of current computing technology in the analysis of systems.

SCOPE AND IMPACT
Responsible for providing technical expertise in his or her field and is also expected to contribute in multiple technical fields. Plans and executes independent work within the project team. Devises and implements new approaches to solving problems. Is part of a team responsible for the development of high productivity, glass container manufacturing processes and equipment.
This job is within the R&D structure. The position reports to the Physics Discipline Manager and to the project leader for the project(s) the individual is assigned to.
The travel time requirements for this position are less than 10% including both domestic and international travel.
