o Summary:
U. S. Steel has an immediate opening for a Process Control Architect within its Process Control Systems group located in Gary, IN. This high-profile role combines the challenges of project management and information architecture working within a highly skilled team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining Software and Hardware of Process Control systems in all areas of the plant. Plant Process Control systems routinely consist of Allen-Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers communicating to real-time applications, models and databases hosted on Open VMS and Windows Servers.

Work is done in accordance with Safety and Quality Standard Operating Procedures of U. S. Steel. Due to the nature of our business, our facilities operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year. Therefore, this position may require work on weekends and/or holidays.

o Major Responsibilities:
 Analyzing production processes and user requirements for system development,
 Detail design of system specification including hardware and software requirements,
 Coding, testing and implementation of applications / systems and user training,
 Supporting the critical production systems in a timely fashion; troubleshooting problems and maximize operating efficiencies with minimal interruption,
 Project Management: coordinate the design and development efforts of a small project team.

• Candidate Specification:
o Minimum Requirements:
 Programming experience in Ladder Logic and/or Control Block Language
 Ability to read P&ID and electrical schematics.
 Minimum of 5 year work experience in manufacturing environment
 Allen-Bradley (PLC3, PLC5, ControlLogix, etc)
 GE (90-30, 90-70, RX-3i, RX-7i etc)
 Siemens S7, S5 PLC
 iFIX Intellution

o Education:
 Bachelor Degree or 4 years equivalent experience in Computer or Electrical field.

o Critical Competencies for Success:
 Self-motivated, yet works well in a team environment
 Effective oral & written communications
 Logical/analytical thought process
